About Me

Pete Fountain

Welcome to my site! Where to begin??

I am my kids dad. Whatever else I may or may not accomplish in my life, dad is the title of which I’m most proud.

In addition to dad, I’m also a licensed real estate agent, a mobile notary loan signing agent, a freelance writer, a percussionist, and an occasional rideshare driver.

I am also lots of other things, some of them more (or less interesting) than those listed above. For example:

  • According to Meyers-Briggs, I’m an INFJ. I was ashamed of that for many years, but recently I’ve come to embrace it.
  • I’m an amateur gardener. My garden seems to increase in size every year, unfortunately I’m not sure the same is true of my skills.
  • I’m a Rush fanatic. Best band ever. Best prog-rock drummer ever. A day isn’t complete without a little Rush in it.
  • I love to read, I always have a couple books stashed in various places. I wish I had more time for books!
  • I’ve never met chocolate I didn’t love. Any time, any place, any form. If it’s chocolate, I’m in.
  • I’m an animal lover.
  • I’m a son, brother, cousin, nephew, god father, and friend to some great people.
  • I’m a life-long learner. It’s important to go to bed every night a little wiser than I was when I woke up.

Some things I think I think

  • Kindness is terribly underrated. Kindness is always an option, and usually the right choice.
  • We never truly know what someone else is going through. We think we do, but we don’t.
  • Seek first to understand before being understood – Steven Covey. This application of this sentence changed my life.
  • Music is everywhere, rhythm is everywhere, it ties us all together even if we don’t recognize it.
  • The best revenge is not to be like your enemy. People will hurt us, we don’t have to be like them.
  • Experiences are priceless, especially experiences shared with other people.
  • Not caring what other people think about us is a true superpower.
  • A lot of people get rich helping us feel like crap about ourselves, then selling us solutions to fix it.
  • Relationships are the building blocks of life.
  • Someone who is nice to their spouse but mean to their waiter is still a jerk.

Of course no one can be summed up in one web page, or even one website, but hopefully this gives you a place to start. My blog posts contain lots of content on all kinds of subjects. Many of them will give you a better idea of who I am and how I think.

I try to do right by people. I try to be kind and grateful. Sometimes I succeed, sometimes I fail. I am human, after all. I’m quick to apologize, and I’m genuinely committed to being a little better person every day. I’ve come a long way, and I have a long way to go.
