Ho Ho Ho

Christmas week – a time of laughter, food, family, presents, and fun. Everyone seems a little happier, a little busier, and a little more willing to smile.

Of course there are lots of things to do, things put off until the last minute, things forgotten. If this week is like usual, it will fly by and we’ll be coming down the stairs to open our presents on Christmas morning before we know it.

Everything changes over time, including Christmas. Traditions fade, people come and go, and some years it seems hard to remember the meaning of the season.

It’s fun to open presents, it’s even more fun to give other people presents to open. Part of me wishes it could just be a time about experiences rather than physical goods. A trip somewhere, a day spent sledding, or time spent with loved ones in front of a roaring fire telling stories and laughing.
